Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm. Ephesians 6:13
Contrary to what you may think, your spouse, children, friends, job, etc., are not the source of your struggles. The Bible tells us that we aren’t fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places (Ephesians 6:12).
You probably have a pretty good idea how to fight against a flesh-and-blood enemy, but what about evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places? What’s your plan for fighting against an enemy you cannot see? Fortunately, God’s got you covered, but it’s up to you to appropriate that covering!
The Bible tells us to put on every piece of God’s armor so we will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Not a few pieces of God’s armor, but every single piece.
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. Ephesians 6:14-18
Do you put on every single piece of armor every single day? Do you do everything you can do to resist the evil in the world? Probably not, if you feel as if you’re losing the battle.
Putting on the armor of God isn’t a mental ritual that you go through every day, it is the way that you live!
- GIRD up your loins with truth! Be ready to deal with the schemes of the enemy and fight back with TRUTH!
- PUT on the breastplate of righteousness. Always choose “right” over “wrong”. Obey God!
- PUT on the shoes of peace. Be ready to share God with others at all times.
- TAKE up the shield of faith! Trust in the living God and His Word!
- PUT on the helmet of salvation! Choose to guard your mind from worldly influence and think on things that honor Christ!
- TAKE up the sword of the Spirit. Live by the Word of God!
- PRAY at ALL times!
In a nutshell, humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. James 4:7. Awwww, the sweet smell of victory!
