Religious Freedom🇺🇸

Freedom of religion or religious liberty is a principle that supports the freedom of an individual or community, in public or private, to manifest religion or belief in teaching, practice, worship, and observance. Wikipedia

Religious freedom is one of the most fundamental human freedoms, which ensures the ability of people to believe, worship, and follow their faiths without government interference.

Thomas Jefferson called religious freedom “the most inalienable and sacred of all human rights.”

In the New Testament, we have a clear picture of the God-ordained role of government. Romans 13:3-4 reads, “For the authorities do not strike fear in people who are doing right, but in those who are doing wrong. Would you like to live without fear of the authorities? Do what is right, and they will honor you. The authorities are God’s servants, sent for your good. But if you are doing wrong, of course, you should be afraid, for they have the power to punish you. They are God’s servants, sent for the very purpose of punishing those who do what is wrong.

The responsibilities of government are to:

  • Punish evil deeds
  • Reward good deeds
  • Render justice

God has given the government specific duties, but enforcing a particular system of worship is not among them.

The framers of the Constitution were God-fearing men making a sincere attempt to establish a new nation on biblical principles. They recognized freedom of religion as “inalienable ad sacred.” Praise God for their wisdom!

Pray that God will continue to protect Christians’ right to practice our faith openly.

“For freedom, Christ has set us free; stand firm, therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery.” Galatians 5:1
