“This is the confidence which we have before Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests which we have asked from Him.” 1 John 5:14-15
Have you ever received a prayer request from a friend asking you to pray specifically for certain things? I have, and when I do, I hesitate to go before the Lord with an itemized list when I have no idea whether or not what I’m asking for is according to His will.
Our prayers should fit into what we know is consistent with God’s character and His will for our lives.
You never have to doubt if you’re praying according to God’s character and plan when you pray His Word back to Him.
Praying God’s Word is praying the heart ❤️ of God!
Praying the heart of God eliminates all selfishness and bias because we want God’s will over our own.
I’ll share a few examples of scripture I’ve been praying this week for family, friends, the lost, America, the Church, and persecuted Christians.
Family🙏II Thessalonians 3:16 “Lord of Peace, please bless my family with Your peace in every situation.”
Friends🙏Psalm 40:2-3, ”Lord, please lift my friend out of the pit of despair, out of the mud and the mire. Set her feet on solid ground and steady her as she walks with You. Please give her a new song to sing, a hymn of praise to You so that many will see what You have done and be amazed and put their trust in You.”
America🙏Proverbs 28:2 ”Lord, please remove the moral rot within America and raise wise and knowledgeable leaders to bring stability.”
The Lost🙏2 Corinthians 4:4 ”Lord, please remove the blinders, put there by the enemy, from the minds of those who don’t believe so they can see the glorious light of the Good News and understand the message about the glory of Christ who is the likeness of God.”
The Church🙏Psalm 2:4, 80:19 ”Please forgive us for not loving You or each other as we did at first. Turn us again to Yourself, O Lord of Heaven’s Armies. Make Your face to shine down on us and save us.”
Persecuted Christians🙏 Psalm 57:1 ”Lord, have mercy on those being persecuted for their faith. I pray they look to you for their protection. Hide them beneath the shadow of your wings until the danger passes by.”
Praying God’s Word for yourself and others will strengthen your prayer life. Your prayers will come from a heart of confidence and trust, knowing you have prayed God’s will.
Arm yourself with the Word of God before entering your War Room to pray.
Great is God’s Faithfulness~Deb❤️

I like to adapt Paul’s prayer for the Ephesians (Eph. 3:14-20) when praying for others.
Praying straight from God’s Word can be a powerful force for righteousness.
I enjoyed your scripture-based prayers.
God Bless

Praying scripture changed and simplified my prayer life. Knowing what God wants for our lives in scripture takes away the ”I don’t know what to pray for this person.” My words cannot compare to His perfect Word.

Amen 🙏🏿. God desires our heart and is aware of all that is going on. As I read this, it reminded of the scripture Philippians 4:6. In everything, we must bring our prayers before the Father, believing that He has heard us and will answer according to His will and purpose. Thank you for sharing this reminder with us 🤗

Hi Deborah, A wonderful list for prayer. For my family I pray for the full armor of God protection daily (Ephesians 6:11).

Amen and amen. I believe in praying God’s Word. Last Saturday morning I held prayer devotion at our church zoom meeting and the Lord inspired me to use the Word as prayer points for our leaders, the Church etc. This is definitely confirmation. I have saved your post so that I can continue to pray those prayers. Thank you, my friend. God bless you and keep up the excellent work that you are doing.

I love that you said that before you rush ahead and pray for what was requested, you pause to see if this is really the area the Lord is leading you down. So many times our loyalty to others can blind us from seeking in earnest what the Lord really wants us to petition us for on their behalf. Using scripture as a metric and guideline is definitely a good thing.

Praying scripture keeps me centered on God’s heart for His children and myself. It is tempting to pray selfishly. I’m thankful for His Word! Have a glorious day, Dee!
