“For the Lord is a sun and shield. The Lord gives grace and glory. No good thing does He withhold from those who walk uprightly.” Psalm 84:11
When I was growing up, if I heard it once, I heard it 1,000 times, “Sit up straight!” We all know people with perfect posture, but most of us have to work hard at sitting and standing upright. It’s much easier to slouch.
Most times, I’m not even aware when I am slouching until I catch my reflection in a mirror or window, and when I do, I “straighten up!”
The Bible talks about walking upright, too.
Psalm 11:7 ~ For the LORD is righteous, He loves righteousness; the upright will behold His face.
Psalm 33:1 ~ Sing for joy in the LORD, O you righteous ones; praise is becoming to the upright.
Proverbs 2:7 ~ He stores up sound wisdom for the upright; He is a shield to those who walk in integrity.
Proverbs 10:29 ~ The way of the LORD is a stronghold to the upright but ruin to the workers of iniquity.
Proverbs 21:8 ~ The way of a guilty man is crooked. But as for the pure, his conduct is upright.
Psalm 84:11 ~ For the LORD God is a sun and shield; The LORD gives grace and glory; No good thing does He withhold from those who walk uprightly.
There is definitely a posture for the child of God. We are to walk in righteousness, integrity, purity, wisdom, and praise (just to name a few).
The next time the Holy Spirit makes you aware that you’re slouching in your Christian walk, listen to His voice, and snap to attention! He is developing His perfect posture in your life!

I like how you tied slouching in our posture to slouching in our Christian walk. May we always be aware and assume the right posture in our spiritual journey.
Blessings Deb 😊💙

Camille, it’s my prayer that you do! To know God is to know His Word. The Bible is the greatest story every told! According to Guinness World Records as of 1995, the Bible is the best-selling book of all time, with an estimated 5 billion copies sold and distributed. If it’s been a while since you have read the Bible, may I suggest you start reading in the Gospel of John and in the New Living Translation (NLT). God bless you, Camille:)
