My son says I repeat myself. You know, I say the same thing twice, and he’s right!
Usually, to my son, I repeat myself when explaining something vital because I want to make sure that he “gets it!” (if you know what I mean!)😉
Sometimes when trying to explain a concept, I will repeat myself because it takes me a few times to say what it is I’m trying to say. I like to call that “verbal proofreading”!📝
When I get a “senior” moment, I will repeat myself because I forgot what it was I said five minutes ago, or it’s a terrific story that happened many moons ago! 🤣 Can I get an AMEN?🙋♀️
Then there are times I repeat myself to those who ARE HARD OF HEARING AND LISTENING! 🤦♀️
Throughout His ministry, Jesus repeated Himself time and time again to His disciples and followers who didn’t “get it.”
God repeated Himself over and over again to the children of Israel, lest they forget.
How many times during the day, does God repeat Himself to you? If you’re like me, A LOT! Sometimes I’m hard of hearing and listening, or I plain don’t “get it”!
It’s because of God’s mercy and grace that He reminds us over and over again. He loves us, knows what’s best for us, and wants to protect us.
One of my favorite passages in the Bible is Deuteronomy 11:18-23~
“You shall, therefore, impress these words of mine on your heart and on your soul; and you shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontal on your forehead. You shall teach them to your sons, talking of them when you sit in your house and when you walk along the road and when you lie down and when you rise up. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates, so that your days and the days of your sons may be multiplied on the land which the Lord swore to your fathers to give them, as long as the heavens remain above the earth. For if you are careful to keep all this commandment which I am commanding you to do, to love the Lord your God, to walk in all His ways and hold fast to him, then the Lord your God will drive out all these nations from before you and will dispossess nations greater and mightier than you.”
Before sticky notes and day planners, God told the Israelites to write it down! Why? Because just like us, He knew they would forget. They needed a written reminder. We need a written reminder, too, the Word of God! Read, memorize, and write it down!
Great is God’s Faithfulness💚

✅Below are a few verses where God reminds and repeats Deuteronomy 11:18-23. The wording is changed, but the message is the same!
- Psalm 119:11 I have hidden your word in my heart ❤ that I might not sin against you.
Teach them to your sons⛪
- Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go, Even when he is old, he will not depart from it.
Keep all this commandment
- John 14:15 If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.
Love the Lord your God
- Matthew 22:37 And He said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.'”
Excellent reminder Deb 😊.
My son says I often repeat stuff too and most of the time I feel like I need to repeat it to make sure he gets what I am saying.
Your post now makes me think if I am doing that with God.

I find, especially as I get older, that I need to be reminded more and more of what it is I read – even if I just read it 5 minutes ago! I sure am thankful for God’s kind patience with me. And thank you, Deb, for this great reminder as well!

I know what you mean. Reminding myself of His presence, strength, courage, peace, and so much more gets me through the day. When I am weak, HE IS STRONG!!💐

I often have challenges with my jungle Internet. I’m not sure if my response to your question today went through on the interface WP provides for responding to comments, so decided to make sure by copying and pasting it here! (Since I can’t remember which post I was responding to before with our thread lol):
Huh, weird that it disappeared. Yes I did 🙂 I first expressed what a joy it is to be able to share about His faithfulness with each other. Then I asked what you like to go by, Deb? Debby? Both of your names? I like to address my friends according to their preferences ❤ 🙂

I love this explanation of repeating ourselves: ‘verbal proofreading”! Yes, Jesus repeated truth over and over because many are hard of hearing and also we are in this world and so easily distracted from the truth. We need Him every moment of every day. Thank you!!

I think repetition is one of God’s favorite tools. And I know I need it 💕. Also, is it possible to have senior moments and not be a senior? 😂
