“I am waiting on the Lord,” is my usual go-to response when asked about a particular prayer I’ve been praying.
When I first started waiting on God to move in my situation, I prayed about it every day and thought about it a lot during the day. Every morning when I woke up, I wondered if this would be the day my prayer would be answered!
Today, I do not pray or think about this particular prayer request all the time. Although I’m still waiting, I have moved into His rest. I’ve left it with the Lord in exchange for His peace.
Waiting on God involves trusting and believing in the One who holds you in the palm of His hand, where you are safe and secure, and where He will never let you go.
The next time someone asks me if I have an answer to my prayer, I’m going to say, “I’m resting in the Lord,” and smile because my focus has moved from waiting on an answer to resting until one comes.
Are you resting in the Lord?
Psalm 37:7 Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for Him;
Do not fret because of him who prospers in his way,
Because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass
Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart,
And lean not on your own understanding;
Psalm 27:14 Wait on the LORD;
Be of good courage,
And He shall strengthen your heart;
Wait, I say, on the LORD!
Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
