Do you talk out loud to yourself? It’s okay to admit it if you do. I’ll be the first to say, “I do!”
Recently, I heard someone say, “Talking to yourself is a sign of intelligence,” so I did what any intelligent person would do, I GOOGLED IT! Yep, that’s right, “Scientists at Bangor University in the UK found talking to yourself out loud is not only helpful but may indicate a higher level of intelligence.” (We’ll forget about that little “may” and go with it!) Now, who wants to be second?
Do you talk to things that cannot carry on a conversation with you? I do that, too! I talk to my dog, CallieMarie and I talk to the turtle at school. I’ve been tempted to pet the turtle, but resist because I’m a little afraid of him. I have a cockatiel named Spike that I talk to, and he actually talks back, usually repeating what I said to him! Some people talk to their plants. I don’t have any plants, but if I did, I would probably talk to them, too.
Do you talk to God throughout the day, or do you limit your conversation to only your prayer time? I love the fact that I can talk to God any time of the night or day. I rarely say amen after my prayers because there’s no end to our conversation.
Did you know God, Himself invites you to talk to Him?
Call to Me and I will answer you, and I will tell you great and mighty things, which you do not know.” Jeremiah 3:3
Then you will call upon Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart. Jeremiah 29:12
Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I shall rescue you, and you will honor Me. Psalm 50:15
Maybe it’s been a while since you’ve talked to God, and you’re not sure if He remembers you. I can assure you if you’re a child of God, one who has asked Jesus to be your Lord and Savior, He knows your name, and He is waiting to hear from you.
