I am a Pre-K teacher’s assistant, and I love Pre-K’s! They are amazing little creatures. With school just around the corner, it has me thinking about my new Pre-K class! If they’re anything like last year’s class, I might need a few more weeks to “gear up”! Last year on the first day of school, we had a “runner”! 🏃♂️Yes, a “runner”! 🏃♂️We chased him around the classroom, and down the hall all…..day…..long! Before the end of the day, his mom was summoned to the principal’s office to discuss whether or not he was “ready” for school and…….he was not! I cannot wait to see how we start out this year! I’ll be wearing my track shoes, just in case! 👟👟
Last year’s class was a handful and a heart full! ❤️ I cannot begin to tell you all the sweet, funny, brutally honest, and make you shake-your-head twice stories they would tell me. Hopefully, I will have a lot to share with you this year, but before I do, I want to share one of my most memorable stories from last year.
We were in the last two weeks of school, and I got called for jury duty! Ugh!🥴 Our school schedule was packed with field trips, programs, and special events. Who has time for jury duty? Not me, so I began to pray, “Lord, please dismiss the case so I can participate in our end-of-school activities.” The day before I was to report for duty, I received a voicemail telling me the case was dismissed! Yea! When I hung up, I said, “Thank you, Jesus, for answered prayer!” Immediately, the class sprung to their feet, ran to my desk and asked, “Mrs. Deb, was that Jesus on the phone? Did you just talk to Jesus? Did Jesus call you?” Their eyes were big as saucers and lit up like the moon! I said, “No, it wasn’t Jesus, but it was someone who carried a message to me from Jesus!”
I teach in a public school, and I am grateful and thankful we are never called out by administration for speaking the name of Jesus in our classroom. I love that we sing Christmas carols at our Christmas program, display a Nativity Scene in our all-purpose room, and the staff meets for prayer weekly in our principal’s office. I do not take any of these blessings for granted!
Three more weeks, and it’s back to the classroom, and I am ready! I hear we have some “little” brothers and sisters coming up the ranks this year. Should be fun!😂
